ABOUT US
History
HOME TEAM Inc., a certified Atlantic
City CHDO, has tenure with Atlantic City now approaching six (6)
years. During this period of time, HOME TEAM Inc. has completed four homes and
is currently committed to the development of five (5) additional Atlantic
City modular homes in the years of 2007 and 2008.
HOME TEAM Inc. is a not-for-profit
agency born out of the need for persistent development of housing for low-income, working families in
Atlantic County, generally, and Atlantic City particularly.
HOME TEAM Inc. has pursued three (3)
primary means of developing homes for the poor:
o
Recycling donated
houses from a donors property to land owned by HOME TEAM Inc., and
renovating the house as required, or
o
Rehabilitating
housing requiring considerable work to have it meet codable, quality
standards, or
o
Building stick or
modular homes on property deeded to HOME
TEAM Inc.
The primary
source of funding in the acquisition of buildable land and the development
of housing is through Home Investment Partnership Funds granted by the US
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These funds are
awarded to, and administered by, Atlantic City, New Jersey. As a
certified CHDO, HOME TEAM Inc.
(as distinguished from Home Investment Partnership Program) is allocated
not less than 15% of Home Investment Partnership funds to carry out HOME TEAM Inc.’s mission of
developing affordable housing for low-income families in Atlantic City.
HOME TEAM
Inc. initially was engaged in housing development throughout Atlantic
County. During that time, Home Team developed thirteen (13) houses in Mizpah, Weymouth, Pleasantville and Atlantic City. Home Team Inc. has
counseled over 600 individuals since it’s inception.
Area credit
needs include mortgage approval in conjunction with low down payment and closing-cost
expenses where necessary Home Team assumes a second soft mortgage inclusive
of a restrictive resale covenant.
